2024 is set to be a stellar year for Netflix and its viewers. Over the course of the next few months and beyond, the streaming platform will be rolling out some major new shows and movies, including action-packed thrillers, period dramas and laugh-til-you-cry comedies. From the highly-anticipated return of Bridgerton series three, a brand new Zac Efron movie, and Cameron Diaz back where she belongs in the world of spies and espionage, viewers can also expect to catch up with the Hartley High students in the latest instalment of Heartbreak High. 1) Atlas: Jennifer Lopez stars as Atlas Shepherd, a cynical data analyst who deeply distrusts artificial intelligence. However, she must join a mission to catch a 'renegade robot' who she learns she shares a mysterious past with. 2) Damsel: Clearly labelled 'this is not a fairytale,' Damsel follows a young woman named Elodie (Millie Bobby Brown), who agrees to marry a handsome prince. However, she soon finds out that the royal family tricked her and recruited her as a sacrifice to pay back an ancient debt. After marrying the prince, Elodie is thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, where she fights for her life and those who gave theirs before her. 3) Hit Man: Action comedy Hit Man is scheduled to be released on June 7. It's based on a semi-true story, whereby a straitlaced professor finds out that he's extremely talented at posing as a fake hitman. While working for his city police department, he falls in love with a woman who has hired him for his 'services,' and ends up descending into a dark underworld. 4) Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story: In 1963 Michigan, cereal rivals Kellogg's and Post compete to be the the first business to create a pastry that will 'change the face of breakfast forever.' These days, we all know and love the Pop-Tart, and it's been a staple morning food item for decades. However, this film, directed by Jerry Seinfeld and starring Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer and Hugh Grant (to name a few), gives viewers a tongue-in-cheek insight into how the revolutionary cake was invented. 5) A Family Affair: With a stellar line-up of Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, Joey King, Liza Koshy, and Kathy Bates, it's clear that this film is set to be a hit. Landing on Netflix sometime in 2024, it follows the unexpected romance between Chris Cole (Efron), a famous movie star, who falls in love with his assistant Zara's (King) mum. 6) Bridgerton Series 3: At last, the Bridgerton family are back! 2024 will see the release of parts one and two of the highly anticipated third season - the first arriving on 16 May and the second on 13 June. So much happened during series two, and so many stories were left unfinished, from Kate and Anthony getting married to Penelope and Eloise having a major fight. Plus, the closing episodes saw Benedict quitting art school, Daphne becoming a mum, and Penelope and Colin still not getting together. However, season three is set to focus on the love story between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), but it won't be an easy ride for them. 8) The Tourist Series 2: Series one of the drama thriller series The Tourist was released way back in January 2022, which means fans have been waiting over two years for the next instalment. 9) The Gentlemen: The Gentlemen is a new series created by Guy Ritchie for Netflix, coming to the platform on March 7. It's a spin-off of Ritchie's 2019 film of the same name, and follows Eddie Halstead (Theo James), a young man who inherits a large estate from his father. 10) Back In Action: We love Cameron Diaz in a secret agent role! The 51 year old actress will star alongside Jamie Foxx in this comedy action movie made for Netflix. In a nutshell, former CIA spies Emily (Diaz) and Matt (Foxx) who left the world of espionage years ago to raise a family are catapulted back into their old lives after their secret identities are exposed. 11) Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F: Eddie Murphy is Axel Foley, a detective from Detroit, Michigan, who returns to Beverly Hills after his daughter's life, Jane, a criminal defence attorney, is threatened. The father-daughter duo team up with Detective Bobby Abbott, Jane's ex-boyfriend, and Axel's former co-workers, John Taggart and Billy Rosewood, to uncover and expose a conspiracy. 12) Girls5Eva Series 3: Girls5eva is back for series three, which will also be the first season created specifically for Netflix, after the platform acquired the show from Peacock in 2022. For those needing a memory refresh, it focuses on the girl group, Girls5eva, who had a one hit wonder back in the 1990s. But, when their song was sampled by an up-and-coming rapper, the members used the opportunity to make a comeback. Series two ended with the band embarking on their own tour after failing to land the opening tour slot for 'Collab.' 13) The Beautiful Game: Starring Bill Nighy and Top Boy's Michael Ward, The Beautiful Game is an upcoming British sports drama film. Coach Mal (Nighy) leads his squad of English homeless footballers to compete at the global annual football tournament, the Homeless World Cup in Rome. 14) Heartbreak High Series 2: Back in 2022, the iconic 90s Australian TV show Heartbreak High was revived for a Gen Z audience. The new edition was instantly a hit, and fans fell in love with characters Amerie (Ayesha Madon), Darren (James Majoos), Quinny, (Chloé Hayden) and Harper (Asher Yasbincek), plus the rest of the pupils at Hartley High. The 2022 series followed Amerie as she fought to repair her reputation after she was exposed as being the creator of a map detailing the sexual exploits of the school's students.
